|Winery Name:||Woodlands Winery, Australia
|Winemaker(s):||David and Heather Watson|
|Other Details:||The Woodlands Vineyard, established in 1973, was planted with the express purpose of supplying excellent quality, cool-climate grapes to create a classic red wine made from the traditional Bordeaux blend.
The Woodlands Winery, surrounded by heavily timbered country, is set in 10 hectares of vineyards. Planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with a smaller proportion of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, the vineyard also includes 2 acres of Chardonnay plantings which hold great promise for the future.
Since November 2000 Woodlands has been open for cellar door sales. At Woodlands we are offering an approach unique to Margaret River. Our cellar sales are located in our barrel storage area, enabling barrel samples. Also, the cellar is staffed exclusively by people intimately involved in the winery, providing a relaxed ambiance for tasting and discussion.
We believe that our most impressive aspect, however, is that we have made small quantities of back vintages of our wine available for sale This includes the astonishing 1995 Pinot Noir, the award winning 1998 'Margaret', and the hallowed 1982 Cabernet Sauvignon, which won several trophies and came runner-up in the 1983 National Wine Show for the best red wine of the show.

|Contact Details / Location:||Western Australia has a proud history in the production of world-class premium wines. While the State produces only two percent of the total output of Australia's wine, this production accounts for over twenty percent of Australia's premium wine. In 2000 the tonnage for Western Australia was 35,000 tonnes, less output than some of the large vineyards of the Eastern States.
In Western Australia there are several areas producing wine, including the Swan Valley, Pemberton, Manjimup, the Great Southern and of course Margaret River. Margaret River lies on the coast of Western Australia three hundred kilometers from Perth. The area has been made famous for it's waves (The Margaret River Masters a world famous event), its sublime caves and wine. Since Margaret River wines began, just as recently as 1967, the region has reached world renown.
Woodlands lies within the subregion of Margaret River called Willyabrup. This area is in the heart of the region, and contains most of Margaret River's oldest and most respected Wineries. Cullen wines, Moss Wood, Pierro, Redbrook (Evans & Tate), Gralyn and Brookland Valley lie within the sub-region, to name a few. This area is trademarked as having some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines in the country.
