Below are the details for Monolithos, Cyprus.
| Winery Name: | Monolithos, Cyprus
established 1999 |
| Winemaker(s): | Unsure |
| Other Details: | Monolithos Winery takes its name from two monolithic stones found one kilometer south of Pachna off the road leading to the villages of Prastio and Avdimou, which stand not far from the chapel of Ayios Stephanos. Nobody is sure about when these monoliths were made, but they appear to be pre-Christian. Archaeologists believe that these large stones formed part of ancient grape presses, and that the rectangular holes in the middle of the stones housed the fulcrum of great levers. So for many years, the word "monolithos" has been linked with winemaking. |
