|Winery Name:||Lemelson Vineyards, USA
|Other Details:||Since joining the Oregon wine growing community in 1995, Lemelson Vineyards is among the top tier of wineries producing some of the world's finest Pinot noir. Eric Lemelsonís strong commitment to organic and sustainable agriculture, combined with a winery that blends the latest technical innovations with respect for centuries-old winemaking tradition, reflects the high level of quality that increasingly characterize Oregon wines.
Lemelson Vineyards produces Pinot noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot gris from its six vineyards in Oregonís Yamhill County, the center of the regionís wine industry. Each vineyard is certified organic, and wine grapes are processed gently by gravity flow, which helps preserve the unique flavor profiles produced in the vineyards.
The facility features a one-of-a-kind 14-foot high mobile sorting platform that can be selectively positioned over stainless steel fermentation tanks, allowing for precise sorting of fruit, as well as efficient winery operations during harvest. The stunning temperature controlled concrete caves are located in the basement of the winery and are home to the Pinot noir during an extended 14-16 months of barrel aging.
The winery is another example of Lemelsonís commitment to the environment. It was constructed using a high proportion of sustainably harvested building materials, and other sustainably produced materials, including oak flooring from trees surrounding the winery and vineyards.
