Wine List for Hentley Farm, Australia
Below are the details of the wine list for Hentley Farm, Australia. All wines are listed in order of vintage.
| Wine List: | Hentley Farm, Australia |
| 2008 | 'The Beast' (Shiraz) Like the fabled character, the Beast is big and bold, yet has a beautiful soft side. Selected from a single block high on the hill, where the soils are shallow and the sunlight is even, you can expect the Beast to exhibit great concentration of flavour and richness, with soft grippy tannins. |
| 2008 | 'The Beauty' (Shiraz) The Beauty, a fitting partner to the Beast, is a wine of elegance. Grown on the coolest block on the property and co-fermented with a tad of Viognier, the Beauty displays complex lifted aromatics, along with the softness and subtlety befitting a wine of this name. |
| 2008 | Clos Otto (Shiraz) Opulence, complexity and balance all come to mind when thinking about the Clos Otto Shiraz. With vines planted by previous owner Otto Kasper using a cutting from an ageing and secret Shiraz clone, and tended to with almost antique machinery and a well-practiced hand, the Clos Otto vineyard consistently yields super low quantities with ultra rich flavours. |
| 2008 | Hentley Farm Shiraz (Shiraz) The Beast’s little brother. Parcels of wine are carefully selected from four different Shiraz blocks within the vineyard to create a wine that displays the treasured characteristics the property naturally produces - saturated colour, fruit intensity and soft, savoury tannins. |
| 2009 | 'The Stray Mongrel' (Blend) Grenache/Shiraz/Zinfandel The addition of Zinfandel to the traditional blend of Grenache and Shiraz is unique to Hentley Farm. With each variety separately crushed, fermented and matured, the Stray Mongrel displays the level of aromatic and flavour complexity you would expect from a blend of such diverse varietals. It is the perfect companion to a variety of culinary delights. |
| 2009 | Hentley Farm Zinfandel (Zinfandel) Planted on an old quarry where soil is almost absent, our Zinfandel block provides the biggest challenge every vintage. Yet as a result of hand harvesting the fruit slightly later in the growing season, allowing it to raisin a little, the wine produced from the block is one of great complexity and flavour intensity. |
| 2010 | 'The Exception' (Riesling) At Hentley Farm, only wine grown on-site is permitted to wear the Hentley Farm label. This Riesling is the one Exception to our rule! Winemaker Andrew Quin and Vineyard Manager Greg Mader were set a challenge: create a world class Hentley Farm Riesling. The pair located a small block of high altitude (420M) Eden Valley Riesling with ideal attributes and the Exception was born. Characteristic citrus fruit combines with an underlying tropical punch, due to the long ripening period. Drink now as a young crisp aromatic white, or in 10 to 15 years when the true brilliance of an aged Riesling will be on display. |
| 2010 | Hentley Farm Rosé (Grenache) Made in the tradition of a Provençal food-friendly Rosé, this bone dry, cool-fermented Grenache Rosé has been made for serious wine drinkers. Picked from low-yielding vines, one third of the resulting wine has spent time in French barriques and undergone malolactic fermentation. The result is a crisp but creamy, luscious drop demanding a second sip. |
